Last week I took my 1 year old baby girl to the Emergency room at Newark Beth Israel. The staff at the ER treated us wonderfully, she was well taken care of. Then we were informed that her wrist was broken, and she would need a cast. A orthopedic resident doctor introduced himself to us and informed us that he would be doing it himself. We were also escorted out of the room because we were told that the parent might intervene and not let the doctors get the work done, how ever I still kept my eyes on her through the curtain. Then came the time to use a saw to cut her cast, my daughter was SCREAMING in agonizing pain but we were reassured by BOTH resident doctors that this was normal, she was just scared because the saw was loud and the vibrations were making her uncomfortable. A week later I took her to her follow up appointment at the clinic for the hospital. The doctor who attended us was confused as to why they put a cast on her when it was not necessary, they proceeded to remove her cast. When the cast was removed SHE HAD 3RD DEGREE BURNS THAT WERE CAUSED BY THE SAW THAT THEY USED IN THE EMERGENCY ROOM. They showed us a metal plate that is suppose to be placed to prevent these burns from happening, a plate was NEVER placed on my daughter.I can not believe that they allowed this to happen to my daughter. Not only did they make her suffer by putting on a cast that she did not need, they also burned her arm! We are angry, heart broken, and appalled. Appalled that these so called “doctors” would put a one year old baby through this. Appalled that not once were we seen by an attending physician but only by residents who clearly didn’t know what they were doing, not one resident but TWO.The negligence at this hospital is absolutely unacceptable.
I truly believe that this hospital does not receive the credit it deserves! I have some of the most amazing doctors and nurses here. I been under cancer care at Beth Israel since January 2018. I am beyond satisfied with the care I have been receiving so far. Many staff members from doctors, to nurses to administrative, have gone continously above and beyond for me. I did have 2 negative experiences, however the reason I didn't deduct any stars for that is that when I shared them, my concerns have been taken serious, and immediate action had been taken to rectify the situation. Newark Beth Israel, thank you for all you have done for me so far.
Went here for same day surgery - the nurses were so nice and accommodating they really cared about my well being, and when brought to recovery the woman made sure I felt ok before sending me home.
R. Nurse Costhetha, R.N. Genesis, and R.N. Mainesha in D8 were the best nurses I have ever experienced in my life. Nurse assistants JoJo and Ingrid were also very great.
Thank you to every single person at NBI. I am so glad we brought our son there from NY for a heart transplant. He could not have been in better hands. The care received to the entire family (not just the patient) was phenomenal and we are so grateful. I have my son thanks to NBI. NBI is our hospital.
